Candar Beta Privacy Policy
Candar only keeps information YOU CHOOSE to create, enter or upload so that your Candar account and the features YOU CHOOSE to use can function.
1. Our Privacy Principle
Candar is designed around data minimisation, personal choice and user control.
We keep what you create because you asked us to keep it. We do not build a separate dossier about you.
Outside the information YOU CHOOSE to provide through Candar, Candar does not intentionally retain, analyse, sell, trade, profile, interrogate or commercially exploit personal information about you.
2. Information YOU CHOOSE to Create
Candar may retain information that YOU CHOOSE to create or provide so the service can function for you.
This may include:
- your username and account information;
- profile information YOU CHOOSE to enter;
- profile photographs and other images YOU CHOOSE to upload;
- messages and other content YOU CHOOSE to create;
- preferences, settings, Likes, Favourites and other choices you make within Candar; and
- information required to provide a feature YOU CHOOSE to use.
Candar does not want more information about you merely because it may be technically possible to collect it.
3. Identity Documents and Real-World Identity
Candar does not want your identity documents.
Candar does not require or retain passports, driver licences, national identity documents, identity scans, facial recognition records, biometric identification records or similar documentation as a normal condition of using Candar.
Candar does not seek to establish who you are in the real world simply because you wish to use a social service.
4. No Sale or Commercial Profiling
Candar does not sell, rent, trade, broker or monetise members' personal information.
Candar does not build advertising profiles about members and does not provide member information to data brokers for behavioural advertising or unrelated commercial profiling.
Information YOU CHOOSE to place in Candar is used to provide the Candar features you selected, not to create a secondary commercial product about you.
5. Location
Candar only processes location information when YOU CHOOSE to use a feature that requires location and when the required device permissions are available.
Candar is not designed to create or retain a permanent historical record of your movements.
Location information is not collected for advertising, sale, behavioural profiling or unrelated commercial analysis.
Features such as Map visibility, Fuzz, Ghost Mode and distance controls are intended to give YOU control over what other members can see.
6. Messages, Photos and Content
Messages, photographs, profile content and other material YOU CHOOSE to create may need to be stored so Candar can provide those features to you and the people with whom you choose to interact.
Candar does not treat that content as material to be sold, mined for advertising profiles or repurposed for unrelated commercial activity.
7. Technical Operation and Logs
Candar is not designed as a surveillance or behavioural logging service.
Candar does not intentionally maintain permanent behavioural logs recording where members go, whom they view, whom they meet or how they use the service.
8. Beta Feedback
If YOU CHOOSE to send beta feedback, Candar may retain the information you deliberately include in that feedback so the issue can be reviewed and the service improved.
Please do not include passwords, identity documents or highly sensitive personal information in beta feedback.
9. Your Choices
Candar is built around the principle that YOU CHOOSE.
You choose what profile information to provide. You choose what photographs to upload. You choose whom to message. You choose whether to use location-based features. You choose your visibility and privacy settings.
Where a Candar feature is optional, choosing not to use that feature should not require you to surrender unrelated personal information.
10. Security
Candar takes reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect information stored for the operation of the service.
No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security, and users should protect their login credentials and avoid sharing passwords with other people.
11. Legal Requirements
Candar may be required to preserve or disclose information where legally compelled to do so by a valid legal process or binding legal obligation.
Candar's privacy philosophy does not give Candar authority to disregard laws that legally apply to the service.
12. Changes to this Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated as Candar develops, including where required by legal, operational, security or product changes.
Where a significant change is made, Candar will make reasonable efforts to notify users through the service, website or another appropriate method.
13. Candar Operator and Contact
Candar is currently in beta. The service is intended to be operated by a Wyoming, USA limited liability company prior to public commercial launch.
